Differences

I realize that in the world today there is a tremendous push to diminish the differences in creation and it is hugely troubling to my spirit. There is a growing community that believes and teaches that man is no different from animals. They go on to say that men and women are no different and continue to spout of that we are God.

Please allow me to briefly say that this teaching is completely incorrect and that the differences are EASILY seen.

1. Man IS significantly different from animals.

Then God said, “Let the waters abound with an abundance of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the face of the firmament of the heavens. So God created great sea creatures and every living thing that moves, with which the waters abounded, according to their kind, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that [it was] good. And God blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth. So the evening and the morning were the fifth day. Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth the living creature according to its kind: cattle and creeping thing and beast of the earth, [each] according to its kind”; and it was so. And God made the beast of the earth according to its kind, cattle according to its kind, and everything that creeps on the earth according to its kind. And God saw that [it was] good. – Gen. 1:20-25

In the book of Genesis chapter 1 we read the account of creation. And in that account we can read where God speaks into being the sun, moon and stars, all plant life and yes, animals – swimming, flying and creeping. God said the words “Let there be…” and it was so. Here is where the difference comes in…

When it came down man, God chose a different path. The scripture plainly teaches that He “CREATED” man. He took dirt that He had previously made and formed Adam, shaped Adam into the image of God and breathed the breath of life directly into Adam’s nostrils. This did not happen with monkeys, horses or eagles. The Lord God took special care in giving His special CPR to His special creation and gave LIFE to man.

2. Man IS significantly different from woman

And the LORD God said, “[It is] not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.” Out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air, and brought [them] to Adam to see what he would call them. And whatever Adam called each living creature, that [was] its name. So Adam gave names to all cattle, to the birds of the air, and to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a helper comparable to him. And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place. Then the rib which the LORD God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man. 23 And Adam said: “This [is] now bone of my bones And flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman, Because she was taken out of Man.” – Gen. 2:18-23

I know that we have read this a million times but have we really considered the fact of the simple truth spoken here. As previously stated, God spoke everything into existence and soon after this, He CREATED from the dust of the ground man. And now God takes it to the next level and CREATES woman, once again from His creation but not from dirt but straight from mans side – using flesh and bone. This is just one huge reason that men and women have this desire and attraction for one another.  God didn’t make Eve from dirt; He didn’t make Eve in the same way – not even close. “She” is different from “he” and as part of God’s design man and woman are supposed to be together.

3. Man is significantly different from God

Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness – Gen. 1:26

Man has more and more convinced himself that he (man) is God, that he (man)  is all-powerful, that the world revolves around himself (man)  and that he (man)  is the center of the universe. Sorry guys – we are not all that so get over yourself – don’t make me talk to your wife. The Word tells us that God created us in His “LIKENESS”. That is an interesting word in itself without even looking at the original Hebrew.

Has anyone ever considered that we are to be “like” God and not “Be” God? It is as though we are to be mirror image even a reflection but even that reflection is not the actual person but a “likeness”. His likeness is literally “to be like” or “to resemble” God. I resemble or look like my dad but I am not him. This similarity to God is more…much more than just in appearance but in our manner, in what we say, how we say it, what we do and act and it would seem that we have forgotten this truth – that we are to be “like” Him. So when we walk the terrain of this world you gotta ask the question …

…Am I like my Father? Do people see a similarity between me and my Father?

Father I pray that we would open our eyes and SEE that You didn’t just throw some stuff together and hope that it would just work; that we would see that You had a plan. Lead us Father to relinquish control to You, our Creator – In Jesus name – Amen
